How Schrödinger nurtures connection and growth across a global workforce

As Schrödinger continued to grow as a global scientific software company, it became harder for employees to naturally build the relationships that support learning, growth, and long-term engagement.

In January 2022, Schrödinger launched Resonance, a company-wide RandomCoffee networking program designed to foster new professional connections across teams and geographies.

With SCIM integration and automatic member provisioning, the program was made available to the entire organization:

  • 1300+ employees invited across the company
  • 20% opt-in in the first year, stabilizing around 10% ongoing participation after 4 years 
  • A low-effort, scalable way to encourage cross-team conversations

Building on this foundation, Schrödinger expanded into structured mentoring programs in 2024. Participants are matched using custom rules (including skills complementarity, seniority, time zones, etc.) and paired for 6-month mentoring cycles, with a new campaign launched twice a year:

  • ~100 participants per mentoring round
  • Automated, rules-based matching replacing manual coordination
